GETTYSBURG CHAMPIONSHIP TO OFFER FREE YOUTH GOLF CLINICS
8/4/08

GETTYSBURG, PA (August 4, 2008) - The Gettysburg Championship will be conducting free golf clinics for young golfers in the Central Pennsylvania/Northern Maryland region on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at The Links At Gettysburg. Players from the LPGA Duramed FUTURES Tour, who are in town for the Gettysburg Championship, will be leading the golf clinics. The Tournament itself is set for August 22-24, 2008 at The Links At Gettysburg. Interested participants should register online at: www.TheGettysburgChampionship.com.

Tournament Director Duff Forsythe said that the FUTURES Tour is one of the best developmental tours in the nation and a golf clinic for our young golfers is one way to inspire future professionals and lifelong fans of the game. "These young golfers will have the opportunity of a lifetime to meet and work with the professional players on the FUTURES Tour," said Forsythe.

The clinics will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. and include a series of skill stations where different aspects of golf will be taught. Participants can work on putting, chipping, bunker shots, driving and iron play. Participants will move from station to station, working with different FUTURES players.

This year the youth clinics will have assistance from The First Tee of the Susquehanna Valley. The First Tee serves over 5000 youth in the Central Pennsylvania region, teaching not only golf but the lessons of life by focusing on setting goals, gaining personal confidence, and trusting judgment. The First Tee's Nine Core Values are honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. For more information on The First Tee of the Susquehanna Valley see: www.thefirstteesvpa.org.

In addition to the free golf clinic, all participating youth will receive one free pass to The Gettysburg Championship which can be used during any of the three days of the tournament. Family packages of tickets are available online and children under 15 are admitted free if accompanied by an adult.

"There's no better way to instill the lessons of golf than to spend time watching a professional golf event live with your children," added Forsythe. "The Gettysburg Championship is a family-friendly event and we encourage everyone to come out, enjoy our Civil War Encampment, meet the young women on the FUTURES Tour and watch some outstanding golf."

Forsythe said tickets are currently available at various locations in Gettysburg including The Links At Gettysburg. Tickets are available online at: www.TheGettysburgChampionship.com. Senior and military discounts are also available.

All youth clinic participants must register online in advance by visiting the website, or by calling The Gettysburg Championship offices at: 866.988.8737. All participants must bring their own clubs.
